A Senior Accountant is responsible for analyzing complex financial records and reports. Senior accountants regulate and authenticate financial transactions and maintain a ledger to ensure effectiveness and accuracy of all accounting tasks Their duties include assuming a leadership role to guide accounting personnel in daily tasks, reviewing financial data to make forecasting decisions and communicating with company Executives about financial strategies.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
Maintains the general ledger.
Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
Create a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual for accounting policy and regulations and roll out reconciliation procedures.
Monitor and maintain a new audit system by implementing new policies and procedures in the finance department.
Guide junior accountants and other staff by answering questions and coordinating informational classes.
As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education/Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
Three to five years of accounting experience required.
Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
Demonstrated ability to support all other departments within the company and coordinate training and information sessions
Must be an outstanding communicator, and have established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment
Highly proficient with accounting software.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Performs other duties as assigned.
