Job Summary: The Supervisory Housekeeping Aid exercises technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing tasks (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution and training) associated with the Service goals and objectives. The incumbent assigns staff for daily routine and non-routine duties. Non-routine duties require the position to reorganize work schedules efficiently to ensure work is accomplished in a timely manner.
Major Duties:
- The position is to provide daily guidance to subordinate supervisors, leaders, and various wage grade employees, working on all shifts, in implementing specific program goals and objectives as directed by the Environmental Management Service Chief, and Assistant Hospital Housekeeping Officer. Incumbent is under the general supervision of the Chief, EMS. The Housekeeping Aid Supervisor coordinates sanitation services within EMS. This requires a coordinated effect to impact every area of the medical center. Assigns and explains work requirements to subordinate supervisors maintaining a balanced workload among his/her sections and sub-units. Reassigns Housekeeping Aids, and supervisors among shifts and sub-units with the concurrence of the Assistant Chief and/or Chief of EMS and Business Manager/Administration Officer. Appraises performance of subordinate supervisors, and/or other employee's appraisals submitted by subordinate supervisors, recommends promotions, incentive awards, and other actions and employee appraisals submitted by subordinate supervisors. Schedules leave of subordinate supervisors and/or employees. Participates in the utilization of temporarily assigned Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) programs. Participation in the program is on a permanent and continuing basis. Establishes work priorities, assignments, deadlines, and reassigns employees by following workload requirements, emergent, and/ or priority requests and staffing situations. The incumbent reviews work of subordinate employees and make appropriate changes in scheduling, etc., as deemed necessary to meet established measures and goals. Qualifications: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/31/2025. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited based on time spent on appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Dexterity in teaching the operation of power equipment. Some heavy lifting (supplies, equipment, and materials), movement of furniture are required along with the stamina to perform physical labor. Must be able to independently move up to 50-pound objects, and push/pull carts weighing several hundred pounds with a push/pull resistance of up to 50 pounds. Incumbents must be able to lift and handle heavy objects that weigh up to 50 pounds while installing, repairing, or assembling various fixtures. Required to stand, crawl, stoop, kneel, and climb on scaffolds, ladders, and reach over and around mechanical equipment on wet slippery surfaces, in cramped uncomfortable positions for extended periods. Required to sit, lean, and lift throughout the hospital. Continuous unassisted walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting and arduous physical effort is required in the performance of the manual tasks described, such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning restroom facilities, high/low dusting, washing walls above five feet and operating powered equipment over extended periods.
