Position Summary
The Senior Data/BI Analyst provides overall direction of projects to creatively implement decision support systems (DSS) applications. Analyzes user community’s business functions and information requirements to determine how decision support systems and OLAP might assist in addressing their information needs, then translates these needs into system requirements and designs. Has primary contact with business community for education, training, support, and DW/BI performance monitoring. Develops detailed analysis, design,
construction, and testing specifications; works closely with project team, vendors, and other IT projects to ensure technical compatibility and integration where needed. Works closely with business users in educating them about DW/BI value; take initiative in quantifying benefits of problem-solving with DSS system. Develops business-oriented meta data definitions; defines and creates system objects and determines need for commonly used system queries.

Essential Functions
- Work closely with customers to capture and analyze business needs and customers’ strategic information requirements, and then define optimum systems requirements to meet them.
- Develop detailed analysis, design, construction, and testing specifications.
- Work closely with project team, vendors, and other IT projects to ensure technical compatibility and integration where needed.
- Develops business-oriented meta data definitions. Define and create system objects; determine need for commonly used system queries.
- Ability to creatively refine business requests for information and provide end users and management with improved decision making.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to interpret results of query analysis.
- Comfort in using a wide range of interpretive analysis tools (e.g. trend analysis, spreadsheets, comparisons, graphs, summary versus detail charts, drill-down, correlations, maps, exception analysis).
- Strong understanding of structured analysis and design techniques.
Solid experience required with RDBMSs, front-end query tools, and other data warehouse software. - Excellent interpersonal skills at all management levels
- Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to present and explain technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative, supportive, and professional relationships with leadership, physicians, vendors, project stakeholders, and team members.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (with significant IT work experience) or a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
Licensure/Certification
None.
Experience
- Eight (8) years of IT experience, including five (5) years in data warehousing or decision support systems including solid
experience in systems analysis, structured analysis, or methods and procedures. - Prior experience with a minimum of two or more of the following:
– Demonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems
– Demonstrated leadership of high-performance work teams/groups
– Demonstrated competency in project management and execution of multiple projects
– Demonstrated experience managing a system rollout
– Demonstrated successful development and implementation of new work processes or improvements of processes
– Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, and ability to achieve results through others
– Successful development and implementation of new technology
– Data warehouse and logistics experience
– Demonstrated acumen in relational and multidimensional database design - Experience in large complex systems, including a solid background in system implementation in multiple locations. Solid understanding of the software development life cycle.
- Hospital-Based Clinical Data experience preferred
- Experience extracting EPIC data preferred
