ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and implements strategic, business, and operating plans based upon organization, patient, family, associate, community, medical staff, regulatory, and owner needs.
- Plans, organizes, implements, evaluates and oversees division operations for skilled nursing centers that include programs and activities in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the long-term care nursing centers.
- Effectively leads division team and Inpatient Services’ Market Leaders & Administrators through servant leadership principles. Responsible for recruiting, developing, coaching, and retaining highly qualified and competent associates to enhance the organization’s ability for growth and succession planning.
- Monitors Inpatient Services’ nursing centers within defined division for performance in the areas of clinical quality, patient and family satisfaction, associate satisfaction, and financial performance.
- Maintains and builds relationships to be an effective liaison with governmental agencies, consultants, and families.
- Effectively reviews and analyzes regional and skilled nursing center financial statements with the expectation to coach and help the skilled nursing center achieve financial goals. Provides information to leadership as requested.
- Assists with developing and implementing market strategies for outreach for skilled nursing centers in assigned division.
- Develops and implements ongoing census development goals and expectations for skilled nursing centers and regional outreach support.
- Keeps abreast of economic conditions/situations, and makes adjustments in skilled nursing center budgets to support the continued ability to provide appropriate care.
- Assists with developing, implementing, and maintaining an ongoing quality assurance program for skilled nursing centers in assigned region.
- Assists with developing, implementing, and maintaining effective associate relations and workforce programs for skilled nursing centers in assigned division.
- Assists with preparing skilled nursing centers’ annual operating metrics.
- Provides direction to support processes for reporting and investigating allegations of patient abuse and/or misappropriation of patient property in a timely manner.
- Monitors patients’ right to fair treatment and provide direction so that personnel are knowledgeable of patients’ rights and responsibilities.
- Promotes a high level of ethics throughout the region and assigned skilled nursing centers for all activities.
- Resolves internal and external conflicts and investigates complex problems or issues, which pose significant financial or legal impact.
- Participates in committees as directed by the Executive Vice President of Inpatient Services.
- Assists with planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing managed care programs.
- Evaluates and make recommendations regarding consultant/contract services provided to skilled nursing centers
- Serves as an interim licensed nursing home administrator (LNHA) if needed.
- Participates in skilled nursing center surveys (inspections) made by authorized governmental agencies.
- Performs administrative duties such as completing reports, evaluations, studies, etc. as necessary.
- Participates in skilled nursing center Quality Assurance Reviews, Quality of Care and JCAHO surveys as requested.
- Makes recommendations regarding equipment and supply needs for skilled nursing centers.
- Assists in developing a preventive maintenance program for maintaining skilled nursing center property.
- Communicates well with other associates, patient’s family members and visitors providing a warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude.
- Embraces and Complies with Corporate Compliance Program.
- Complies with all Privacy and Security Programs.
- Promotes the image and reputation of the System by exhibiting servant leadership and providing direct and open lines of communication.
- Contributes to the work of committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of the System.
- Performs other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of long-term care and institutional management and administration.
- Thorough knowledge of business as it relates to fiscal management, procurement, supply and building, and plant maintenance.
- Extensive knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing patient care and treatment and related services or activities.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, department heads, administrators, member organization vice presidents and their leadership teams, patients and families, and the general public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field and eight years related work experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Masters in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field and five years related work experience.
- A Nursing Home Administrators License is required.
- Five years long-term care management experience, preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides supervisory oversight to Skilled Nursing Center Market Leaders, Administrators, Administrators in Training, Centralized Certified Dietary Managers, Division Nurses, Division RAI Specialist, and Centralized Recruitment & Engagement Specialist.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format. The ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
