Job Summary: This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), at the Sepulveda and West Los Angeles Medical Center Campuses, (Engineering Service).

Major Duties:

  • The duties for this position include, but are not limited to: Working independently with responsibility for determining proper work methods and techniques to use in accomplishing assigned, scheduled and emergency tasks. Working from oral/written instructions, specifications, blueprints, wiring diagram, schematics, and sketches. Estimating material, tools, and equipment necessary for each assignment. Ordering material, tools, equipment, and services by compiling a rough draft containing information for procurement. Completing installations, modifications, and repairs, and loans and test systems, circuits, equipment, and controls with little or no check during the progress or upon completion of work. Checking the overall work to see that in meets accepted trade standards. Deciding on the types and sizes of conduit, wiring, relays, distribution panels, and other electrical devices proper for the work, and arrange, install, and repair a variety of complete electrical systems as well as any parts of the systems. Work Schedule: MONDAY - FRIDAY; 07:00 a.m. - 03:30 p.m. Position Description Title/PD#: Electrician/PD11337A Physical Requirements: Incumbent makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach places. This requires the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Incumbent frequently lifts and carries tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 9 kilograms (20 pounds) and, less often, up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds). Occasionally, incumbent will lift or move with assistance moderately heavy objects weighing more than 18 Kilograms.

Qualifications: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position.
