Job Title: Cyber Security Intern - 2024 High School Graduate

Location: Remote

***Internship Start Date: January 2, 2025***

  • Must have obtained the CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+ certifications by December 31, 2024.***

IBSS Objective

IBSS seeks to hire two cybersecurity interns who have a volunteering spirit and would like to pursue a career in cybersecurity. Interns will work closely with the IBSS Cybersecurity Coach, cybersecurity apprentices, and other IBSS colleagues to build skills and capabilities, which will culminate in being selected to join the IBSS Cybersecurity Apprentice Program.

This IBSS cybersecurity internship is specifically designed for recent high school graduates to provide the techniques to master content associated with the CompTIA Network+ and Security+ certifications.

Prerequisites for Participants:

  • Local to the Washington, DC metropolitan area to report to the IBSS Headquarters Office in Silver Spring, MD.
  • At least 18 years old
  • 2024 high school graduate
  • Have a willingness to participate in volunteer efforts monthly that benefit the environment and humanity
  • Must have obtained the CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+ certifications by December 31, 2024.
  • Top performing, highly energized about a cybersecurity career, driven/ambitious, and willing to put in the work it takes for a rigorous cyber development program.
  • Be able to obtain a security clearance from the United States federal government. Refer to the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency website for more details about the clearance process.

Program Expectations

If accepted, participants must complete/obtain all assigned certifications, labs, and other learning objectives. Participants who have already passed an exam are not required to take the exam again. However, all participants will be required to demonstrate an understanding of the subject matter for any previously held and newly obtained certifications. In addition, participants are expected to participate in IBSS volunteer activities on a monthly basis.
