The Cloud Hardware Analytics & Tools (CHAT) Team within SCHIE develops advanced analytical and tooling solutions to support and improve the quality of Microsoft Azure. We collect and analyze data across the full Azure stack, HW & SW components, Silicon development processes, and much more. CHAT Data Engineering, a branch of CHAT, provides data engineering support, with a focus on quality, repeatability and automation, to cloud engineering and management partners. We are looking for a Data Engineer II to support our custom data analytics and visualizations platform. This high-impact role focuses on the pillars of data engineering of compliance, data management and transformation as well as modeling, and will have direct contributions to Azure-level projects, including working with highly visible platforms through data-driven approaches. This role closely collaborates with BI and Data Science, Software Engineers, other Data Engineers, Program Managers, and HW Engineering teams.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering , or related field AND 2+ years experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling or data engineering work
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in business analytics, data science, software development, or data engineering work
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience in data modeling, data engineering
Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Capable of technical deep dives into different data categories to review quantitative or conceptual problems and situations to draw appropriate and valid conclusions from data presented ADO (Azure Dev Ops) management experience
  • Desired coding languages include SQL, Apache Spark Languages such as Python
  • Firm sense of accountability and ownership for end-to-end project lifecycle
  • Knowledge and working experience in data mining is a plus

Data Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
