The Ethics and Compliance Officer (ECO) for the NAPAC Hub (Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong) will lead a team of approximately 7 individuals who are responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the company's ethics and compliance programs. This role is critical in ensuring that the company operates within the legal and regulatory frameworks, maintains the highest standards of ethical conduct, and fosters a culture of integrity. The NAPAC ECO will work closely with senior leadership, legal, and operational teams to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The role will report to the Associate Vice President Japan and NAPAC.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy: This position sits on the Lead team of the President and General Manager of the NAPAC Hub.  As a part of the leadership team, this position will provide Ethics and Compliance leadership and guidance to affiliate leaders as the affiliates launch innovative strategies to bring life-saving medicines to patients throughout the geography.   This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive ethics and compliance strategy aligned with the company's business objectives through a highly qualified and motivated E&C team.
  • Team Leadership and People Development: Attract, retain, and develop top talent into the Ethics & Compliance NAPAC organization. Ensure an open and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork, open communication, and collaborative interactions among team members. Is able to operate across geographies.
  • Business Partnership: Through effective partnership with affiliate leadership, ensure business discussions and decisions include clear business ownership to integrate high performance with high integrity.
  • Governance: Work with affiliate and business area leadership to ensure the key elements of an effective ethics compliance program are built into local governance using compliance by design principles, and integrated into decision-making forums, business and operational processes, and training and employee development.
  • Policy Development, Risk Assessment, Monitoring, and Corrective/Preventative Actions: Provide input into the development of corporate ethics and compliance policies and procedures. Ensure local business processes and operational procedures are consistent with global policies and procedures. Analyze and identify program and business risks. Develop and implement monitoring programs utilizing analytics to inform success.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with other risk functions for holistic analysis of programs, and with other Ethics & Compliance teams, to build and improve controls and programs that support Lilly´s global strategy.
  • Training and Education: Assess compliance communications and training needs for the businesses to effectively support ethics and compliance program needs and organizational change management goals and objectives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess compliance risks within the organization. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies. Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and supporting audits.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Establish and maintain systems for monitoring compliance with policies and regulations. Report on compliance activities and issues to senior management.  Investigate and resolve compliance violations and ethical concerns.
  • Regulatory Affairs: Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations affecting the pharmaceutical industry. Ensure the company's compliance with all relevant local, national, and international regulations.
  • External Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with specific external industry ethics and compliance peer-groups, regulatory bodies, industry groups, and other stakeholders. Represent the company in compliance-related matters with external parties.
     

Qualifications and skills:

  • Advanced degree in law, business, or a related field strongly preferred
  • Extensive experience in compliance, ethics, or legal roles within the pharmaceutical industry, other healthcare experience, and/or consumer/brand promotion
  • Strong knowledge of NAPAC and international pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Significant leadership and management experience with demonstrated ability to effectively lead and drive change across multiple geographies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior management and across different departments.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
  • Strong strategic and conceptual skills with the ability to bridge to action and execution.
  • Legal authorization to work in Australia.
