Pharma Technical Development (PTD) is integral to Roche’s mission to develop innovative and transformative meaningful medicines for patients by applying leading technical expertise to design, develop, supply, and register clinical stage products globally.
Within PTD, Synthetic Molecules Technical Development (PTDC) leverages advanced science and technology to drive the development of synthetic molecules from first-in-human studies through commercialization. Based in Basel, Switzerland, our team of approximately 700 experts works collaboratively to bring our vision to life, delivering impactful solutions that support our mission and uphold our core values.
The Drug Substance Clinical & Commercial Supply (PTDC-S) ensures that the synthesis processes for new active ingredients from process research are safe and sustainable for scale-up and commercial manufacturing and that the necessary product and process knowledge is built up for CMC control strategies, regulatory submissions and market approval.
Your tasks and areas of responsibility as a Project/Plant Chemist in the Process Optimization & Feasibility group are, in particular:
Scaling up laboratory processes for deployment in pilot plant operations and for the production of multi-kilogram quantities of chemical intermediates and active ingredients,
Adhering to and ensuring compliance with Roche policies, procedures, and standards in the areas of safety, health, and environmental protection,
Achieving high drug quality requirements for clinical trials, including responding to process-specific and/or technical questions during scale-up,
Contributing to interdisciplinary, international project teams as a disciplinary expert and managing entrusted projects,
Ensuring GMP documentation for the production of active ingredients and knowledge transfer for subsequent production and regulatory approvals.
Who you are
You have a PhD or Master's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with a training emphasis in Organic Chemistry and at least 2 years of professional experience in chemical development or manufacturing as a project/plant chemist.
In addition, you meet the following requirements:
Enthusiasm for experimentation and technology, as well as a talent for solving procedural and organizational challenges,
Solid knowledge of operational requirements for laboratory processes for a safe and successful scale-up,
Convincing communication skills and good language skills in German and English,
Proven GMP knowledge and experience with its implementation in day-to-day operations is an advantage,
A passion for assuming and embracing responsibility is essential.
