Responsibilities:

  • Directs all commercial and supplier management activities for assigned raw material  commodities.

  • Initiation and implementation of market analysis and commodity strategies for assigned  raw material commodities that includes a strategy to optimize the supply base.

  • Coordination within global teams to jointly implement global market analysis and raw materials sourcing strategies seeking supply security and cost competitiveness.

  • Manages all supply chain factors of total cost for assigned commodity and divisions consistent with divisional business objectives.

  • Initiation and realization of cost reduction potential through workplan projects.

  • Works closely with R&D/Material Technology teams to ensure alignment with the supply base and technologies

  • Acts as the primary interface with the supply base for all commercial matters. Deep knowledge of assigned commodity markets

  • Creation and execution of Purchase & Supply Agreements (e.g. contracts) in close cooperation with legal department

  • Implementation and support of purchasing initiatives during the construction of the new mixing plant in Weinheim.

Qualifications:

  • Commercial training or studies with a corresponding focus

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in strategic/chemical raw material procurement

  • Language skills: German very good, English fluent

  • Deep knowledge of various production processes for chemical raw materials

  • Strong experience of processes and methods in strategic purchasing

  • Knowledge of cost breakdown and TCO considerations

  • Strong negotiation skills and cost awareness

  • Deep knowledge of contract and price negotiations

  • Consolidated use of MS Office, SAP and purchasing-specific IT tools

  • Technical understanding and very good communication skills

  • Acting proactively and collaborating with affected departments

  • Ambition for continuous improvement and challenging the status quo

  • Willingness to travel approx. 20%
