                                                                              ABOUT THE TEAM

The Finance team is a collaborative group of professionals dedicated to managing and optimizing Brahmin’s financial health. Our responsibilities encompass a wide range of vital functions, including financial reporting and analysis, preparing annual budgets and monthly forecasts, maintaining accurate accounting records, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and external regulations. Team members work closely together to prepare financial statements, analyze economic trends, and support strategic business planning. This role is considered hybrid and reports to our corporate headquarters, located in Fairhaven, MA.

                                                                                YOUR IMPACT

The Senior Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, financial reporting, preparing budgets and forecasts, revenue and inventory reporting, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger system, and assisting with audit preparations.   To be successful as a Senior Accountant, you should have strong financial analysis skills and a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).  An outstanding Senior Accountant should also possess strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, able to work with little to no supervision, and adhere to deadlines.  

                                                                           WHAT YOU’LL OWN

Accounting and Reporting:

  • Plays lead role in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing and reporting processes. Prepares financial statements and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information. 
  • Analyzes balance sheet account activity. Review and present key findings to management and appropriate business owners.
  • Assists in the preparation of cash forecasting.  
  • Monitors compliance with established internal controls over financial accounting and reporting. Ensures the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger system. 
  • Prepares analysis to support management initiatives and audit requests.
  • Provides support for both internal and external audits.

Financial Planning & Analysis:

  • Prepare annual budgets and monthly forecasts.  Analyzes and presents trends in revenue, expenses, capital expenditure and other related areas.
  • Provides on-going financial analysis and support to business owners through analysis of monthly performance against budget/forecasts.  
  • Assists with special financial and business-related studies in support of management initiatives.  Partners with operations and business channel leaders  in the preparation and  analyses of strategic business plans.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

                                                       WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting or related field required, MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and internal control compliance (SOX) required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ analytical and accounting experience required.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfortable working within an ERP system.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines; excellent time management skills required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Must be able to make decisions and solve problems that are general in nature and for which there are precedents. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
