Kern Regional Center is one of 21 private, non-profit regional centers contracted by the State of California through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to coordinate community-based services and support for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Kern Regional Center services over 10,000 individuals in Kern, Inyo and Mono Counties. Our counties cover approximately 22,000 square miles with a population of over 945,000 people.


The Legal Executive Assistant provides assistance to the Fair Hearing Officer and Legal Team by providing high-level administrative functions and support, including conducting legal and business research, preparing quarterly 4731 Complaint and other statistical information reports, processing record requests and subpoenas, and performing other clerical and administrative support functions, such as drafting correspondence, organizing internal files, gathering records and preparing evidence binders, coordinating meetings and conference calls with internal staff and/or external parties, managing and updating various Outlook calendars, preparing and ensuring timely submission of finalized/approved legal and administrative responses for KRC.

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Associate in arts (AA) degree, and three (3) years of executive assistant, legal assistant, or paralegal experience, public policy and administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual language fluency (English/Spanish), highly desired.
  • Establish and maintain comfortable and effective relationships with others. 
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Prioritize varied work assignments, completes legal and administrative documentation within statutory/required timelines.
  • Advanced understanding of varying computer software programs, including client management information systems, and Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  • Demonstrate initiative, adaptable to inflow of inquiries, self-motivated, sound, and independent judgment. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, customer oriented, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.

Salary range for this position $25.31 to $35.61 per hour

Starting salary range $25.31 to $27.90 per hour
