We are seeking a skilled Life Product Support Manager to lead a team dedicated to implementing and supporting life insurance products.
As Life Product Support Manager, you will lead your team in achieving department objectives by leveraging deep technical knowledge and critical thinking. You will provide technical and analytical consultation to internal and external stakeholders, facilitating clear, effective communication and solution-finding. By providing guidance in the development and implementation of tools to meet business needs, you’ll help ensure these tools are accurate, efficient, and well-documented. You will be responsible for researching and analyzing information to resolve emerging issues and proactively address challenges. In addition, you will prioritize team projects, deliver technical expertise for department processes, and identify or lead initiatives through training, reviewing work, and continual process improvement.
• Provide technical guidance to the team and serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) using thorough understanding of the actuarial related concepts and requirements and relevant business processes needed. Demonstrate a solid understanding of regulatory and competitive considerations and use independent judgement in applying this understanding to daily work and center of expertise.
• Manage team members, which typically includes being actively involved in the hiring and firing, completing performance evaluations, work allocation, and complex problem resolution.
• Manage, monitor, and approve staffs’ PTO and overtime to ensure the department is properly staffed at all times to meet project deadlines and service level agreements and address any absenteeism patterns that impact the performance of the department and team.
• Effectively plan and prioritize the work of others in accordance with the broader team or department objectives and priorities. Complete projects on time with high standards and accuracy.
• Determine areas of additional training, development and coaching necessary for team members and communicate this information to team members in an open and respectful manner. Develop a continuing training and education program that is customized to the needs of each employee and their unique job requirements.
• Lead staff to develop or enhance spreadsheet, software and/or database tools used to manage, analyze and report data. Oversee the maintenance and usage of these tools. Ensure work is accurate and efficient using existing procedures for team. Document tools and processes. Serve as the SME for these tools and develop/facilitate the training of these tools across the team.
• Create and/or generate reports, conduct analysis and reasonability checks, and provide insights and recommendations to key stakeholders. Accountable for addressing questions, troubleshooting and proposing solutions.
• Serve as a SME and representative of the department in meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Be able to communicate technical actuarial information to non-technical audiences.
• Identify opportunities to automate departmental processes or tools to improve efficiency and accuracy; craft project map and timeline; propose to team leadership and lead project from start to finish.
