Lilly’s Software Product Engineering team is actively looking for a Lead Site Reliability Engineer (SRE). Are you ready to own and complete complicated and technically ambitious tasks? What You’ll Be Doing:
- Ensure the health and performance of applications by setting up state-of-the-art monitoring tools, creating proactive alerting systems, analyzing incident data, and enhancing defect observability.
- Implement AI-driven operations to enhance system performance and reliability.
- Lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select the best available technologies, conduct thorough performance testing, and analyze performance metrics.
- Develop robust scripts and automation tools, creating self-healing mechanisms, and integrating new tools to enhance system resilience.
- Utilize advanced analytics to predict and prevent potential issues before they impact application performance.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and other teams to ensure smooth and efficient application operations.
- Respond to incidents and managing them using ITIL processes.
- Forecast resource needs, optimizing system performance, and providing 24/7 global coverage to ensure uninterrupted application operations.
How You’ll Succeed:
- Standardizing best practices and scaling them across all supported applications.
- Continuously identify potential issues before they become critical and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks.
- Regularly review and refine processes, tools, and systems to ensure they are up-to-date and optimized for performance and reliability.
- Maintain clear and open communication channels with all stakeholders, ensuring everyone is informed about the status of applications and any incidents that occur.
- Provide guidance and training to junior team members, helping them develop their skills and knowledge in site reliability engineering.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies and be willing to adapt and innovate to improve application reliability and performance.
- Always prioritize the needs and experiences of end-users, ensuring that applications are reliable, efficient, and user-friendly.
What You Should Bring:
- Extensive observability background, OpenTelemetry, AWS knowledge, Kubernetes, DevOps practices, monitoring tools (Splunk, AppDynamics, Datadog), scripting (Python), L1 & L2 support, incident management, ITIL, and documentation skills.
- Experience with disaster recovery, business continuity planning, creating ServiceNow dashboards, Linux, and shell scripting.
- Good-to-have skills and certifications: ITIL Foundation certification, AWS or other Cloud Certification(s), SQL, Postman, MuleSoft, and networking concepts.
Basic Requirements:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, plus a minimum of 6 years of experience as an SRE or similar OR a high school diploma/GED plus 8 years experience as an SRE or similar.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$123,000 - $180,400Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
