The Enterprise Data Team, part of the Digital Core Organization in Tech@Lilly, collaborates to speed business decisions through innovative enterprise data and analytics solutions, and frictionless access to trusted AI-ready data products.  We work globally with our cross-functional Tech@Lilly partners to strategically align their needs with our fully integrated and intuitive data and analytic ecosystem.

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Leader of Product Managers (i.e. Enterprise Data Backbone (EDB), Marketplace, Analytic Workbench (AWB), Lilly Translate, Search & Discovery, etc.) to spearhead our Data and Analytics capabilities within the Tech@Lilly organization. This role will be pivotal in driving the strategic direction, development, and delivery of our data and analytics products, ensuring they align with the overall business objectives of Eli Lilly as a medicines company. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in product management, data, and technology, along with excellent leadership and communication skills.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Leadership and Strategy: Develop and execute the strategic vision for data and analytics product portfolio, ensuring alignment with the company's business goals and objectives. Lead a team of product managers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Product Development and Adoption: Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle across the portfolio, from ideation to launch and beyond. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, to define product/portfolio requirements, prioritize features, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.  Manage product/portfolio investment decision making and the overall financial performance of the products/portfolio.  Continuously monitor and evaluate product portfolio adoption and usage.  Make maintain/refresh/retirement recommendations and decisions. 
  • Portfolio Planning and Execution:  Accountable for the operational planning and execution of the Enterprise Data Release Train and Quarterly PI Planning.  Guide and empower the product engineering team to scope, plan and deliver work, applying established delivery methodologies (e.g., agile methods) and best practices (e.g., reusability).
  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and external partners. Communicate product/portfolio vision, strategy, and progress effectively, ensuring alignment and support across the organization.
  • Market and Competitive Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape related to data and analytics capabilities. Conduct market research and analysis to identify new opportunities, assess market demand, and inform product development and positioning strategies.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team. Encourage experimentation, exploration of emerging technologies, and adoption of best practices to drive product excellence.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Manage the budget and resources allocated to the data and analytics product portfolio. Ensure optimal utilization of resources and deliver products within budget and timeline constraints.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, data privacy, and security standards.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports for success, develop for growth, raise the bar on performance, and improve diverse representation on the team.  Appropriately manage team priorities and workload across new releases/implementations and ad hoc initiatives.
  • Data and Analytics Strategy: Work with the Enterprise Data Chief Architect to drive the development and implementation of a robust data and analytics strategy and roadmap, leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies to deliver actionable insights and drive business value. Ensure the organization is effectively utilizing data to make informed decisions and gain a competitive edge.

What You Should Bring:

  • AWS and/or Azure Cloud Foundations certification(s).
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification(s)
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is highly desirable.
  • Experience of design thinking principles and customer experience design
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams. Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Ability to facilitate difficult discussions, prioritization of competing interests, managing both strategic and tactical interests.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. Strong presentation and storytelling skills to convey complex concepts in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Innovation and Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs. Demonstrated passion for innovation and continuous learning.
  • Compliance Awareness: Knowledge of regulatory requirements, data privacy, and security standards relevant to the pharmaceutical industry. Experience in implementing data governance practices is a plus.

Basic Requirements: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of leadership experience and 5+ years in product management, with a focus on data and analytics products. Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex data-driven products within a technology-driven organization.
  • Technical Proficiency: Minimum 10 years of experience with data and analytics technologies, including data warehousing, data lakes, analytics tools, data engineering, AI/ML, data governance (catalog/marketplace). Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Project Management Skills: Minimum 10 years of experience with project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Jira Align) is preferred.

    Location:  US, Indianapolis.  Travel less than 10% of the time.

    Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

    $154,500 - $226,600

    Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
