We are looking for a Director of Global Retail Operations and Communication. This Director of Retail Excellence is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, leading impactful programs, and streamlining communications across a global fleet of retail stores. This position plays a pivotal role in leading a team that supports enhancing the efficiency, productivity, and engagement of store teams while delivering exceptional customer experiences. It reports to the Vice President of Retail and Omni-Channel Excellence.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of retail operations, proven leadership capabilities, and the ability to inspire and influence teams and business partners at all levels. With a minimum of 10 years of experience in retail and leadership, the Director of Global Retail Operations and Communications will serve as a thought leader, change agent, and advocate for best-in-class retail practices. They will lead a team of professionals and will collaborate with our cluster and global teams to influence work across departments and geographies.
About the Job
Operations Leadership:
- Develop and implement operational strategies that drive efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance in-store performance.
- Ensure consistent execution of standard operating procedures across all locations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and execute innovative solutions.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional task forces to define best solutions for retail stores and support an aligned operating model across all global teams that engage with retail.
Training and Development:
- Design Standard Operating Procedures, Guides and Training tools that support excellence in store operations.
- Develop training that supports cluster operations teams in their ability to properly utilize tools and resources for global programs and technologies.
Communications:
- Oversee the development and delivery of clear, concise, and actionable communications to store teams.
- Oversee communication systems to create the most efficient use for field teams.
- Guide change management in all projects from the department.
- Act as the key liaison between corporate teams and retail locations, ensuring alignment on priorities and messaging.
- Foster a culture of open communication and feedback to enhance team collaboration and alignment.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of operations and communication professionals.
- Cultivate a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as a role model for company values, championing a customer-first mindset and commitment to excellence.
Performance Management:
- Analyze key performance metrics to assess operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement.
- Test and build field Incentive Programs that support driving key performance indicators (KPI’s).
- Collaborate with finance and operations teams to align goals with financial objectives.
- Provide regular updates and insights to senior leadership on progress and initiatives.
About You
- Minimum of 10 years of retail experience, including significant leadership roles.
- Proven expertise in retail operations, training, and communications within a multi-location environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams.
- Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale initiatives and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Passion for retail excellence, customer experience, and team development.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in managing change and driving cultural transformation.
- Familiarity with emerging trends and technologies in the retail industry.
This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the success of a retail organization by optimizing operations, fostering team engagement, and ensuring consistent execution of the brand promise across all locations.
This is a hybrid position based in our San Francisco, CA headquarters. You will be expected in office 3 days per week typically Tuesday-Thursday. Note, time in office can vary depending on business needs.
