What you will do:
We are seeking a highly skilled Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Specialist to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in finite element analysis to conduct structural, seismic, modal, and thermal engineering analyses for our custom equipment. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and performance of our products in demanding environments.
How you will do it:
Conduct structural static analysis to assess the integrity and strength of large-scale equipment including air handling units and modular data centers.
Perform seismic analysis to evaluate the performance of equipment under seismic loading conditions.
Execute modal and frequency response analysis to identify internal vibration sources and assess their impact on the equipment's performance and longevity.
Conduct thermal engineering analysis to ensure optimal thermal management and efficiency of equipment.
Collaborate with multiple disciplines, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams, to integrate FEA results into product development and enhancements.
Work closely with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure that design improvements align with performance metrics and operational efficiency.
Provide insights and recommendations during design reviews to refine product concepts and address potential issues early in the design process, contributing to an elegant and efficient end product.
Utilize ANSYS software to perform detailed simulations and analyses, providing insights that inform design decisions.
Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation of analysis findings, including actionable recommendations for design modifications as necessary.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in FEA methodologies and software tools, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to support project timelines and objectives, fostering a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
What we look for
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
Proven experience in finite element analysis, specifically in manufacturing or related industries
Expert proficiency in ANSYS software (Static Structural, Modal, Frequency Response, and Fluent)
Strong understanding of structural, seismic, vibration, and thermal engineering principles
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
Ability to verify and validate FEA results with manual calculus
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and present findings to stakeholders
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Occasional shop environment (PPE required), requiring adherence to safety policies and exercise of caution, as the environment presents many naturally occurring hazards
Preferred:
Master’s degree
Some Travel throughout North America (domestic/Canada) as needed
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to data center equipment is a plus.
