Under direction of the Automation Manager, the Sr. Automation Engineer is responsible for
- All phases of custom, large-scale automation or manufacturing equipment projects
- Conceptualization of automated prototype, pilot line and production equipment design and specifications for Marmon Retail sites
- Leading all aspects of design and design review process for automated manufacturing cells
- Leading manufacturing equipment projects thru to full production validation and start-up
- Creation of RFP’s and Purchase Specification documents for new manufacturing equipment
- Testing and validation of new designs and equipment
- Developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; identifying and conferring with equipment vendors
- Utilizing your extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and the ability to translate that knowledge into reliable equipment designs that enhance Marmon Retail’s manufacturing capabilities
- Participates and/or leads as a member of a cross-functional project team
- Completing design and development projects by training and guiding technicians and junior engineers
- Identifying and driving capacity expansion and cost reduction initiatives
- Building financial models to justify capital equipment acquisitions

Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Automation engineering
- Minimum 10 years’ related experience in design and deployment of automated manufacturing equipment and tooling
- Working knowledge of Material and parts feeding systems, welding, metal forming and cutting, metrology equipment, vision systems, PLC’s, HMI’s, data acquisition systems and motion control systems
- Expert level ME fundamentals and principles of manufacturing knowledge
- Knowledge of analytical statistical methods, validation protocols, PFMEA’s, control plans and RCA Methods
- Experience utilizing CAD solid modeling software - SolidWorks strongly preferred
- Excellent mechanical aptitude, interpersonal skills and technical writing ability
- 30-50% travel, domestic.
