Who We Need

We are looking for patient, energetic and passionate Art Teacher for our school programs located in Wappingers Falls, & Hyde Park, NY.  This is an opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team, focusing on the educational programming for all Preschool-aged children at every level of ability. This position will provide art therapy services to individuals or small groups demonstrating a knowledge of developmental levels and disabling conditions, using a variety of techniques and materials. 


Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm, 32.5 hours per week, 48 weeks per year (includes a 6-week summer program)


Pay Range: $27.15 – $32.15 per hour 


Responsibilities: 

  • Schedules individual and group art session
  • informally assesses students receiving art therapy sessions
  • Formulates an age-appropriate treatment plan for each student
  • Consults with classroom teachers and other therapists to discuss appropriate treatment plans for each student when applicable.
  • Selects, orders and maintains art therapy supplies and equipment
  • Follows all agency policy and procedures and demonstrates a continuous regard to personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Performs other appropriate job-related activities as required by immediate supervisor or as circumstances warrant.
  • Adhere to agency Code of Legal and Ethical Behavior, which require all employees, consultants, board members, volunteers and affiliates to perform their responsibilities according to ethical and legal standards with honesty, integrity, fairness, good faith and respect for others and the law.

Requirements
  • New York State Certification in Art Education, master's degree in special education preferred, 
  • Bachelor's degree in special education or related services field, 
  • experience working with students with disabilities.
