Central Texas Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital is looking for a Surgical Department Floor Lead to join our Round Rock Surgery Team!

As the Surgery Team Floor Lead, you will be responsible for providing outstanding patient care, and exceptional client service, while working with doctors and shift leadership to address patient care needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interview and hire new surgery technicians and technician assistants.
  • Direct and guide the surgery team as it relates to daily priorities and oversee completeness and efficiency of daily patient treatments and overall care.
  • Monitor and oversee that surgery team members are following proper safety protocols.
  • Hold monthly or bimonthly surgery team meetings. Arrange educational topics to be covered during these meetings.
  • Attend monthly (or however often held) “team leaders” and Hospital Administrator meetings.
  • Annual reviews and performance evaluations of other surgery technicians.
  • Meet with surgery team members individually to discuss issues, document write-ups or give incentives as needed.
  • Assign technicians to doctors based on available staff and the surgeon’s scheduled cases. Make changes as needed and coordinate assistance for late emergency cases.
  • Monitor job duty lists completion of all surgery technicians. 
  • Send out instruments/equipment for repairs, and advise leadership of any broken instruments or equipment.
  • Revise/update technician emergency on-call schedule. (Coordinate between both locations)
  • Approve time off request forms and adjust staff schedules to cover hospital needs.
  • Perform weekly inventory ordering and stocking of surgical supplies and equipment.
  • Monitor inventories performed by other surgery team members.
  • Oversee weekly and annual drug log maintenance.  Must be knowledgeable regarding related federal and state laws and regulations regarding the dispensing, disposal, ordering, and maintenance of records for all controlled drugs.
  • Train new surgery technicians as stated in the Surgery Team training manual.
  • Assist Technician Assistant team leader in training new technician assistants.
  • Evaluate/test technicians for various Technician Levels (Beginner, Intermediate, & Advanced).
  • Revise/update standard operating procedures. (Coordinate between both locations)
  • Revise/update training manuals, standard operating procedures, inventory sheets, and job duty lists as needed.
  • Order/update radiation badges.
  • Arrange uniform orders.
  • Arrange continuing education conference information.
  • Perform standard Surgery Technician duties. 
  • Consistent attendance and on-time arrival.
  • Always be in position and prepared to work at the start of each shift.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician is required.
  • Licensure preferred. 
  • Excellent customer service and computer skills are required.
  • Leadership experience preferred. 
  • Advanced anesthetic monitoring proficiency is required.
  • Must be able to bend, stand, stoop, walk, and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to forty (40) pounds.

SCHEDULE:

  • Weekdays
  • Overtime and Saturdays may be required. 
  • On-call rotation for weekends and holidays may be required.
