ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Manage min/max inventory levels of masks, fixtures, fixture assemblies, and applicable tooling and report any changes required through MRP system
- Assemble masks, fixtures, subplates, and all other defined tooling to form a complete assembly, verify heights, diameters, and other applicable dimensions and ensure assembly will accomplish intended use
- Improve upon current storage system for both coating and blast tooling
- Work with Tooling Cell Supervisor to establish methods for maintaining inventory levels including checking out tools and recording in-process usage numbers
- Monitor wear rate of tooling using inspection gages to determine proper disposition. Dispose of decommissioned tooling
- Continue to advance methods for documenting tool usage
- Work with Tooling Supervisor to assist in determining manufacturing schedule of needed tooling to coincide with production schedule
- Coordinate with Production Manager to provide information regarding tooling availability in relationship with Coat/Blast schedule
- Place orders for new tooling as required through requisition process
- Coordinate with Materials Manager to confirm outsourced tooling orders and delivery
- Track tooling delivery from in-sourced and out-sourced suppliers
- Measure new incoming tooling to verify it meets the drawing requirements before introducing into inventory. Verify new parts work, in concert with other pieces in assembly and report non-conformance
- Collaborate with engineering to troubleshoot mask, fixture, or assembly concerns through problem solving and continuous improvement
- Maintain tooling return area with necessary inspection equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in Tool Crib and all surrounding areas including work area inside the coating room per acceptable 6S guidelines
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
- Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Basic understanding of GD&T, symbols, and able to apply knowledge
- High school diploma, GED equivalent, or Technical School
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Must be reliable and have excellent attendance
- Ability to communicate, read, and interpret documents written in standard English
- Proficient with Micrometers, Height Gage, Gage Blocks, Calipers, and Test Indicators
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact with fellow employees and customers in a professional manner
PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:
- Standing for extended periods of time, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, or kneeling; use hands to finger, handle or feel parts and materials; reach with hands and arms and overhead; and talk and/or hear instructions and equipment sounds
- Occasionally sitting, lifting and/or moving items up to 40 pounds
- Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to differentiate shades and color to identify coating defects
- Near acuity and accommodation required for reading dial and digital gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of coating operations
- Ability to handle delicate parts
WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:
- Regularly exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts, ovens, and risk of burns
- Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock
- High noise levels from operating machines
- The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment
