Responsibilities:Washington Works (Parkersburg, WV) has multiple openings for Co-Op Engineers in various production units across the site. The Co-Op Engineers in these positions are provided one-on-one mentorship by a senior engineer during all work periods at the site. Initially, the Co-Op Engineer is provided computer-based and hands-on training covering the topics of Environmental/Health/Safety (EHS), Process Safety Management (PSM) and work execution strategies that are key to the remaining working time at the site. As the Co-Op Engineer progresses in their work independence, he or she will provide day-to-day manufacturing support with operational and technological responsibilities to assure safe and continuous operation of the processes, support capital projects and continuous improvement efforts. Typically, the Co-Op Engineer will alternate work and academic semesters for a total of 3 working terms adding up to over a year of work time. If the Co-Op Engineer’s school schedule allows, there is potential for an additional work term just prior to their senior year.

Your key responsibilities:
- Develop work activities and behavior consistent with Celanese Core Values.
- Develop process expertise to ensure facility and personal adherence to regulatory, company policies, and good manufacturing practices.
- Provide daily technical support to Operations including process optimization, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and risk analysis.
- Assist with the implementation of solutions to improve processes (safety, yield, uptime, capacity release)
- Monitor manufacturing equipment performance; assessing reliability of equipment, identifying failures and causes of failures, and recommending solutions
- Provide technical guidance to support capital projects, including design, capital justification, Process Safety Management, and commissioning activities.
- Work with Commercial and Quality teams to respond to customer inquiries and/or quality notifications.
- Develop and improve operating procedures
- Sophomore in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering
- Minimum 2.8 GPA throughout work terms
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong team player with an ability to work closely with all functional teams within the plant
- Self-starter with systematic decision making, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work in the U.S. with no restrictions (OPT H1b, TN visa currently not supported)
