Billing Implementation Specialist – Behavioral Health

Wise Path Recovery Centers is building a new in-house billing department and implementing a modern EMR and billing platform to better serve our behavioral health and substance use disorder programs.

We’re looking for a Billing Implementation Specialist who thrives on precision, process, and problem-solving. In this role, you’ll bridge billing operations and system configuration—helping us set up clean, compliant, and efficient workflows from day one.

What You’ll Do

• Configure and test billing workflows during EMR implementation.
• Validate payer rules, claim formats, and service codes for behavioral health and SUD programs.
• Support data migration and confirm accuracy of patient demographics, authorizations, and billing records.
• Prepare, review, and submit clean claims to Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payers.
• Track claim status, resolve denials, and complete payment reconciliations.
• Audit data between the EMR and payer portals to ensure accuracy.
• Collaborate with Utilization Review, Admissions, and Finance teams to align authorizations and billing details.
• Document processes and assist in creating standard billing workflows.

What You’ll Bring

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in healthcare billing; behavioral health or SUD experience preferred.
• Proficiency with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding.
• Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payers.
• Strong Excel and data management skills.
• Organized, accurate, and dependable with excellent follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting EMR or billing system implementation.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or Healthcare Administration.
• Knowledge of 42 CFR Part 2 and behavioral health confidentiality standards.
