Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 6,000 TK-College students across 30 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of BGCP, ensuring accurate accounting, reporting, and compliance. Reporting to the Controller, this role handles general ledger entries, reconciliations, and assists with audits and financial statements.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the accounts payable function, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments and vendor communications.
  • Maintain the company’s accounts payable files.
  • Oversee company credit card reporting and expense process.
  • Manage the company’s Amazon and Expensify accounts
  • Prepare, review, and file annual 1099 forms in compliance with IRS regulations, ensuring accuracy of vendor information, timely submissions, and proper recordkeeping. 
  • Process general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
  • Assist in financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements.
  • Support annual audit and compliance efforts. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, crouching, squatting, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 20% walking & standing. Work environment noise level is usually moderate but can be noisy at times. All requirements are subject to reasonable accommodations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; or equivalent relevant experience in the field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, previous experience in a non-profit setting is a plus
  • Proven ability to adhere to an environment’s internal control structure.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

LOCATION

Menlo Park, CA

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm; Hybrid work model (In-office for 4 days, and work from home 1 day - days TBD).

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Employment Status: Full-Time Salary
  • Pay Range: $65,000 - $75,000, depending on experience (DOE)
  • Health Benefits: BGCP covers 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums; 50% for dependents

As part of the hiring process, BGCP requires candidates to complete a LiveScan fingerprinting, background check, and tuberculosis (TB) evaluation or test.
