Creating Safer Workplaces for Everyone.

We want to create a better working world by building a global network of responsible buyers and suppliers. Alcumus SafeContractor takes the pain out of compliance for over 50,000 organisations globally, helping them protect their people, their operations, and the planet. We support our network of hiring clients, suppliers, and contractors by keeping them compliant with the standards that matter most, from health and safety and sustainability to ethical behaviour.

As a Junior Software Developer, you’ll play a hands-on role in building innovative applications that make a real impact on the business. Working in a collaborative Scrum squad alongside experienced developers, DevOps engineers, QA analysts and product owners, you’ll have the mentorship and support to accelerate your growth while contributing to meaningful projects. From writing and testing code to shaping new features and improving team practices, this role is a chance to develop your skills in a fast-paced, Agile environment where your ideas are valued.

If you’re passionate about learning, problem-solving, and creating high-quality software, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that’s driving continuous improvement and delivering real value to users!

What that means day to day

  •  Be an integral part of the development team, actively supporting development of tools, services and platforms
  • Review and contribute to the ongoing improvement of team practices and Ways of Working with an aim to making the team more effective and improving delivery
  • Collaborate with other teams – both within the Technology department and across the business - to identify improvements to existing processes and services or where new services could be developed
  • Work closely with key stakeholders in the collection and documentation of user requirements and the development of user stories
  • Plan, write, test and maintain code for web, mobile and desktop business applications in accordance with established standards in an Agile environment
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and related code
  • Work closely with the quality teams to ensure that standards are maintained
  • Provide third-level support to business users
  • Adapt and learn to work with other languages/platforms where required
  • Keeping up to date with the latest relevant technological innovations

What you’ll need to be successful

  •  Experience developing with:
    • NodeJS/Express
    • React
    • JavaScript
    • TypeScript
    • HTML5/CSS3
  •  Foundational technical skills, including databases (SQL/NoSQL), web protocols, unit testing, and version control (Git).
  • Ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum teams with strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and a growth mindset.
  • Good organisational and communication skills, with competence in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable experience includes: exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), modern software architectures, CI/CD and DevOps practices, security standards, Agile tooling, and an understanding of scalable application principles - with bonus points for open-source contributions or a relevant degree.
