Job Summary: 

 

As the Meat Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for procuring 360+ million pounds of fat beef trim annually.  In this position, you will have responsibility for achieving organizational financial goals including cost savings and market advantage targets set annually. You will work closely and partner with vendors, production, scheduling, and R&D to meet all fat meat requirements for prepared plants and are responsible for analyzing market factors and historical data to make purchasing decisions.  The Meat Procurement Manager position requires an in depth understanding of the commodity fat trim category.  

  

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

·       Responsible for purchasing 360+ million pounds of fat trim annually 

·       Creates and manages freezer plan 

·       Develops cost savings initiatives  

·       Analyzes market factors and historical data to optimize purchasing decisions and increase market advantage 

·       Coordinates with stakeholders including vendors, production, scheduling, R&D, and distribution to ensure financial goals are met 

·       Performs analysis for weekly least cost and monthly consensus forecasting 

·       Addresses and resolves issues related to material quality, price, and delivery

·       Continually manages and supports vendor relations

·       Reports market conditions to business units 

·       Supervises one meat procurement analyst 

  

Requirements: 

 

·       Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

·       Experience: 5+ years of relevant school and/or work experience in analyzing market factors, historical data, purchasing, and sales.

·       Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills

·       Technical: Experience using SAP system and Excel 

·       Special Skills: Highly collaborative team member with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external organizations. Previous supervisory experience a plus.
