Summary

The Senior Human Resources Generalist serves as a strategic partner to leadership and employees, providing advanced HR expertise across the full employee lifecycle — including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and organizational development. This role plays a critical leadership function within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring HR strategies align with operational goals, regulatory compliance, and the company’s mission and values.

The Senior HR Generalist will independently lead key HR initiatives, partner with management to develop workforce strategies, and act as a subject matter expert in California labor law and HR best practices.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to: 

  • Lead and execute strategic full-cycle recruitment for hourly production, skilled trades, and salaried roles.
  • Partner with department heads and facility leadership to drive talent acquisition, workforce planning, and succession management strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on complex employee relations matters, investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
  • Oversee and improve HR programs including benefits, attendance, leaves of absence, workers’ compensation, and HRIS data integrity.
  • Ensure consistent compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, especially California labor laws.
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, retention, and organizational culture.
  • Partner with leadership on performance management, compensation reviews, and development planning.
  • Analyze and present HR metrics (turnover, headcount, engagement, recruitment trends) to identify opportunities for improvement and guide business decisions.
  • Manage HR audits, reporting, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide multi-site HR leadership and remote workforce support.
  • Mentor and coach junior HR staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or in related field or equivalent required. 
  • Minimum of five (5)+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong knowledge of California labor laws and employment laws required. 
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP highly desired. 
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required.  
  • Experience supporting multi-site locations. 


Required Skills:

  • Language: Must have excellent written and verbal skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex business information. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and peers.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mathematical Ability: Strong analytical skills with acute attention to detail. Presents numerical data effectively.
  • Other Abilities: Strategic and operational HR acumen, wit h proven ability to influence leadership and drive organization outcomes. Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite. Must have strong knowledge in California labor and employment law. Must be able to properly document and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information. Must have knowledge to apply general use of databases/spreadsheets. Must be proficient with HRIS data management, analytics and reporting. Must be able to manage and prioritize workflow. Must have strong knowledge with HR audits and reporting. Must have proven success managing high-volume recruitment in a fast-paced setting. 

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand and sit 6 to 8 hours a day. Must be able to work with their hands, arms and be extremely accurate. Must be able to walk, sit, stoop, or kneel on a regular basis. On occasion, the employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Customary physical demands for an office environment. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving high-speed machinery and mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. outside weather conditions, machine oils, metal fillings, acetone, paints, solvents, grease, cutting fluids, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock or vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
