Responsibilities

We’re looking for a talented and open-minded commercial transactions attorney to join our team to support our commercial business in DACH with flexibility to support in other EMEA regions, too. In this role, you will closely work with the sales team, internal business partners, and other Legal team members, drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements with Atlassian's enterprise customers. You will also have the chance to contribute to team projects and our positive, can-do team culture. Your future team

Atlassian’s Legal Team is seen within Atlassian as an impactful business partner, serving our clients with practical and business-oriented advice and solutions. Our team is highly collaborative and supportive - we love working with each other and cheer on our teammates' successes.

You will report directly to the Director Commercial Legal - DACH, France & Southern EMEA. You will have lots of opportunity to work closely with other colleagues in EMEA and globally, both on the day-job and on project work.

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Be an active part of our Commercial Legal Team, which supports Atlassian's enterprise sales business.

  • Negotiate enterprise cloud and license agreements for Atlassian's products and services, including master services agreements.

  • Partner and collaborate with other teams, such as our privacy, risk and compliance, security, finance, accounting, product and sales teams to facilitate contract reviews and internal process improvement, and development and enhancement of our customer-facing forms.

  • Provide pragmatic, business-minded guidance on contract-related issues.

  • Keep up-to-date on relevant legislation in DACH and at the E.U.-level

  • Develop support materials and providing trainings to educate our direct sales and channel teams on contract terms and other legal issues.

  • Build trusted relationships with our sales colleagues in the region, being extremely curious about our company’s business priorities and proactive in suggesting solutions.

  • Advise business and corporate functions in the region in close collaboration with our specialist teams in the U.S. and EMEA.

  • Contribute to projects improving contract processes and sales enablement.

  • You think creatively beyond the "legal" box to offer solutions for the business.

  • You are curious about AI, working with AI tooling, and legal aspects regarding AI and AI product features.

  • You’re a team player that loves to share your knowledge and best practices with your team mates.

On your first day, we'll expect you to:

  • Have passed your Second State Examination with 5+ years PQE (we are looking for an experienced deal lawyer).

  • Be enthusiastic to work in an international environment, learn and take on new responsibilities.

  • Have experience handling b2b contract negotiations and have commercial acumen.

  • Be able to communicate fluently in German and in English, other languages are a plus.

  • Have an understanding of related topics like data privacy.

  • Be curious about Atlassian's products, culture, and business model.

  • Be curious about using AI in your daily work and about legal aspects of AI.

We appreciate as a plus:

  • Experience in the SaaS space and tech.

  • Experience with public sector customers and/or financial institutions.

  • Additional legal qualifications in other EMEA jurisdictions.
