Indiana Masonic Home Compass Park is looking to add to our Childcare Team. Compass Park is a vast 320-acre community in the heart of Johnson County adjacent to Indianapolis. It is a vibrant community through all seasons and a place of beauty, rich in tall trees and winding footpaths. This job is in Franklin, IN.

Lead Teacher Responsibilities:

  •  Provides direct care to children ages 6 weeks to five years for their physical needs, which include:
    • Assisting with diapering and with toileting
    • Playground and outdoor activity supervision
    • Feeding and/or assisting with meals
    • Supervising quiet time
  • Interacts daily with young children, employees and parents to ensure a smooth information flow and to ensure children’s needs are met.  Occasionally interacts with regulatory agency personnel.
  • Trains and supervises assisting caregivers.
  • Provides input for employee performance reviews, completing as necessary.
  • Acts as a role model and support for staff on disciplinary concerns.
  • Makes recommendations for personnel actions, including hiring and counseling.
  • Assigns specific task responsibilities to caregivers, including meal supervision, cleaning, activities, etc.
  • Prepares and implements weekly lesson plans and utilizes varied resources to encourage creativity.
  • Is responsible for the maintenance and sanitation of assigned areas, including educational materials.
  • Keeps Child Care Manager informed of specific behavioral concerns and works with Manager to assess if conference is warranted.
  • Prepares daily information sheets and confers daily with parents about children’s progress.
  • Works specifically with children on individual assessments and maintains portfolios.  Works to ensure children are prepared for the next class.
  • Documents behaviors and skill developments on biannual progress reports.
  • Shares ideas, duties and materials with other staff.
  • Assists and provides backup support to other classrooms as needed.
  • Attends required workshops, staff meetings, in-services, center-related events and necessary conferences.
  • Maintains sanitation standards according to posted procedures.
  • Complies with policies and standards, licensing regulations and procedures, including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Lead Teacher Requirements:

  •  A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Child Development Associate Certificate required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with and directly supervising children.
  • One year as a full-time caregiver with demonstrated leadership skills while completing a CDA certificate is acceptable.
  • Successful completion of first aid training and CPR certification within one year of hire date.
