Basic Qualifications: 

• Prior Successful Coaching Experience preferred 
• Ability to effectively communicate with all audiences 
• Evidence of strong leadership ability
• CPR certification & first aid training

Specific Competencies:

• Understanding of high school basketball  rules and regulations
• Possesses a strong value system 
• Ability to work effectively with others: players, parents, teachers, administrators, patrons, and assistants 
• Ability to build and promote a program
• Is an effective organizer and planner 
• Demonstrates patience and understanding in stressful situations 
• Is dedicated and committed to coaching and knows the value of winning 

Performance Expectations: 

1. Adheres to the rules, regulations, and policies of the MHSAA and the Board of Education 
2. Promotes and practices positive sportsmanship 
3. Is prompt and accurate in submitting all required reports 
4. Develops a good rapport with parents, patrons, assistants, teachers, and administrators 
5. Works with other staff to assist athletes in maintaining eligibility 
6. Works with the varsity coach to develop the program
7. Always uses appropriate language; and is well-groomed, appropriately dressed and presents a good appearance.
