About the Department
The Diversity, Equity & Social Responsibility Department (DES) advances the org-wide commitment to a more diverse, equitable, inclusive, accessible, and socially responsible NYRR. They work collaboratively with the Human Resources Department to ensure that all employees are treated with dignity and respect in the workplace; that the employees’ unique identities and experiences are valued, welcomed, and respected, across all matters including employee relations, performance management, policy and procedure review and development, staff engagement, and professional training and development. They utilize a data-driven and evidence-based approach to identify, analyze, and address processes, and policies that impact the employees and the employee life cycle. They use a framework that focuses on equity-centered advocacy, education, workforce diversity, compliance, and policies. They also partner across the organization to institute a stronger DES foundation in our storytelling, platforms, programs, races, and events. They create more socially responsible, equitable, accessible, and sustainable strategies, with goals and targets centered around supporting our diverse communities.
About the Position
This is a Part-Time (25 hours per week), temporary job that contributes to achieving NYRR’s Diversity, Equity, and Social Responsibility (DES) mission—Advancing our commitment to a more diverse, equitable, inclusive, and socially responsible NYRR—for our team, for our community, and for the sport we love, running. In this role, you will serve as a change agent, committed to creating a culture of inclusion and belonging.You will collaborate to ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion principles, practices and processes are embedded across functions. The responsibilities also include developing, utilizing, and completing reports, presentations, and surveys that support the organization’s ability to measure progress towards strategic goals. This role will report into the Head of Diversity, Equity, and Social Responsibility, also working closely with the Chief Diversity Officer, other DES team members, Employee Resource Group (ERG) leaders, as well as other key stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
Identify innovative and impactful new ideas for diversity, equity, and social responsibility at NYRR via research, analysis of internal data, and brainstorms with NYRR team members
Help define diversity and equity project deliverables and assist in executing initiatives from inception to delivery to finalization
Assist in implementation of multi-year diversity and inclusion strategy plans
Curate and update the DES Annual Playbook, tracking all the monthly DES events
Review internal and external benchmarks to help drive DES focus areas
Assist and compile data where needed for compliance reporting and audits
Help prepare presentations to leaderships to achieve objectives and drive ownership for diversity deeper into the company
Assist in the management of the Employee Resource Groups and associated events
Partner with Employee Resources Groups to ensure alignment with overall business objects and diversity & inclusion strategy
Contribute to the planning and execution of trainings, lunch & learns, programs and events
Serve as liaison with program participants and external DES partners for marquee events
Serve as DES representative for internal collaborations, including but not limited to, Monthly Storyteller meetings, Internal communications review, and Set the Pace Podcast review.
Contribute to policies and procedures review to ensure equity and support of the DEI mission.
Manage calendaring functions for the DES team
Job Requirements:
Experience:
Experience in employee engagement
Minimum 1-3 years working in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, HR, or other relevant field
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
Skills and Attributes:
Demonstrated passion for learning about and implementing activities that support diversity, equity, and social responsibility
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
Strong attention to detail; ability to effectively manage multiple projects and work with tight deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
A quick learner with a can-do attitude
Other Requirements:
All staff are required to work the NYC Half Marathon, Brooklyn Half Marathon, and the TCS NYC Marathon.
