LECTURER IN ECONOMICS

CENTRE HIGHER EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT (CHED)
The University of Cape Town (UCT) is a research-led, strongly internationalised university, and the only one in Africa included in the Times Higher Education Supplement’s Top 150 world universities. In partnership with the School of Economics, the Commerce Education Development unit, housed in the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHED), is seeking to make an academic teaching track appointment in the area of first-year Macroeconomics at the Lecturer level. Applicants with a specialty in any area of economics are invited to apply.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Honours degree (NQF level 8) in Economics or cognate field
- A demonstrable track record in teaching Macroeconomics at the undergraduate level
THE FOLLOWING WILL BE ADVANTAGEOUS:
- Previous experience of teaching Macroeconomics at the first-year level
- Experience in course design and review
- Involvement in academic curriculum advising
- Experience in teaching first-year students enrolled in extended degree programmes many of whom are first-generation university students and come from diverse educational and linguistic backgrounds
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
- Design and delivery of lectures, tutorials, tests and examinations
- Convene courses and manage teaching teams
- Assist in curriculum development and review
- Development of additional teaching resources
- Collaborating with the School of Economics teaching team
