Job Title: Controls Engineer - 70% REMOTE 30% Onsite STL Job Description We are seeking a skilled and motivated Controls Engineer with 2-4 years of industry experience to design, develop, and implement control systems for our battery manufacturing equipment. This role focuses heavily on Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming and requires hands-on experience with automation, system integration, and troubleshooting. As a Controls Engineer, you will work closely with the engineering and production teams to ensure that our equipment meets performance requirements and operates seamlessly in a high-demand manufacturing environment. Responsibilities
- Design and Program PLCs: Develop, implement, and test PLC programs for battery manufacturing equipment, ensuring systems are optimized for efficient production and safety.
- System Integration: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with other manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve issues in real-time, applying root-cause analysis to address recurring problems and implement preventive solutions.
- Equipment Testing and Validation: Conduct rigorous testing and validation procedures to confirm control system performance and reliability.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation on control system designs, programming changes, and maintenance activities. Provide reports to project stakeholders on system performance and improvement initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the improvement of production systems by identifying opportunities for automation and process optimization.
- Proficiency with PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text).
- Experience with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) design and programming.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting skills in control systems and an understanding of control system hardware.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 2-4 years of industry experience in controls engineering, with specific expertise in PLC programming.
- Knowledge of battery manufacturing processes or similar industries is a plus.
