Duties & Responsibilities

Summary:

VCU Police seeks a detail-oriented, self-starting Compliance Specialist to support the VCU Police policy compliance and accreditation programs. Reporting to the Compliance & Records Manager and as part of the Business Administration team within the VCU Police Department, this position plays a critical role in administering the policy compliance program as well as supporting the department's accreditation efforts. The Compliance Specialist will coordinate and manage the accreditation document maintenance process and policy review process. The position will also work with internal team and external stakeholders to assess needs, initiate, develop and implement a well-managed policy review and accreditation documentation program.

  • Organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain the highest degree of professionalism, civility and confidentiality. 

  • Strong project management skills with the capability to establish action plans, set clear goals, monitor and communicate progress, and follow through on all initiatives to completion. 

  • Excellent critical-thinking, research, and decision making skills. 

  • A demonstrated ability to prioritize and independently manage a variety of initiatives. 

  • Experience creating and using systematic approaches to problem solving and troubleshooting. 

  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment and work independently and to manage and meet multiple priorities and deadlines. 

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with all levels within the department & the larger university. 


  • Demonstrated proficiency with standard office programs, ex: Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
