About the Role:

The Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in the operating room by preparing the surgical environment and assisting the surgical team to ensure procedures are conducted efficiently and safely. This position involves the meticulous preparation of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, as well as maintaining sterile fields throughout the operation. The Surgical Technologist collaborates closely with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly during procedures. Attention to detail and adherence to strict safety and infection control protocols are essential to minimize risks and promote positive patient outcomes. Whether working full-time or part-time, the Surgical Technologist contributes significantly to the overall success of surgical interventions and patient care in the Location, LOC healthcare setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist training program.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical instrumentation.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including full-time or part-time shifts as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a hospital or surgical center environment.
  • Advanced certifications such as Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA).
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and surgical documentation systems.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with specialty surgical procedures relevant to the facility’s services.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile drapes according to the specific procedure requirements.
  • Assist the surgical team during operations by passing instruments and supplies, anticipating surgeon needs, and maintaining the sterile field.
  • Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized, inspected, and accounted for before and after procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain strict adherence to infection control and safety protocols throughout the surgical process.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to manage surgical supplies inventory and report any equipment malfunctions or shortages.
