About the Role:
The Medical Assistant Supervisor in the OBGYN department plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of clinical support services. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of medical assistants, ensuring high standards of patient care and compliance with clinical protocols. The supervisor acts as a key liaison between medical staff and administrative teams, facilitating communication and workflow to optimize patient outcomes. They are tasked with resolving operational challenges independently, managing supply orders, and maintaining a well-organized clinical environment. Ultimately, this role ensures that the OBGYN practice delivers exceptional care while supporting the professional development of the medical assistant team.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of medical assistants within the OBGYN department to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care.
- Provide clinical supervision and guidance to medical assistants, including training, performance evaluations, and ongoing support.
- Resolve operational and clinical issues independently to maintain a seamless and effective clinical environment while involving Practice Management and Leadership when needed.
- Manage inventory and place orders for medical supplies and equipment to ensure the department is adequately stocked.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to optimize patient care processes and address any workflow challenges.
- Crossover to other departments within the clinic to assist when needed.
- Buy and bill for IUD;s and complete specialty pharmacy IUD orders.
- Act as management-on-site when needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential. Or similar clinical education (EMT, LPN, RN)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a medical assistant, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
- Experience working in an OBGYN or women’s health clinical setting highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of clinical procedures, patient care standards, and healthcare regulations.
- Proven ability to resolve problems independently and manage clinical operations effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in a health-related field.
- LPN or RN
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems specific to OBGYN practices.
- Leadership training or certification in healthcare management.
- Familiarity with supply chain management and ordering systems in a clinical environment.
- Additional certifications related to women’s health or clinical supervision.

The Medical Assistant Supervisor utilizes problem-solving skills daily to address and resolve clinical and operational challenges independently, ensuring uninterrupted patient care. Clinical supervision skills are essential for mentoring and guiding medical assistants, fostering a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment. The ability to place orders efficiently ensures that the department remains well-equipped, preventing delays in patient services. Strong communication and organizational skills are employed to coordinate between clinical staff and administration, optimizing workflow and patient experience. Additionally, leadership and interpersonal skills are critical for motivating the team and maintaining high standards of care within the OBGYN practice.

Salary: $28 - $35 / hour
