Administrative Assistant 

Department of Agriculture 

Full Time 


Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the department—greet visitors, answer phone lines, and communicate with current and prospective students.
  • Coordinate department meetings, take minutes, and assist with scheduling for professional development activities.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper files, course schedules, and departmental communications.
  • Handle confidential materials and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Oversee department and auxiliary unit budgets, including the David M. Barton Agriculture Research Center and Charles H. Hutson Greenhouse; manage expenditures, invoices, purchase requisitions and account transfers. 
  • Coordinate textbook orders and supply inventory; serve as liaison with publishers and vendors.


Position Duties

  • High school diploma, GED, or HiSET
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong communication and organizational skills 
  • Evidence of accuracy in recording data and attention to detail
  • Experience with budget management
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and collaborate as a team member
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
