Are you detail-oriented, organized, and have a passion for numbers? We’re looking for a Royalty Accountant to join our team and support the administration and execution of royalty-related functions. Based in our Beverly, MA office, this position plays a key role in reviewing royalty contracts and statements, maintaining contract data within our royalty tracking system, and assisting with financial reporting and audits. While the role is ideally based locally, we’re open to remote candidates who are a strong fit.

Position Specifications

Key Results Areas

  • Review royalty contracts and statements for accuracy and completeness.
  • Accurately enter contract data into the royalty tracking system, including vendor information, titles, royalty rates, and advances.
  • Generate and distribute royalty statements via email or mail.
  • Support preparation and submission of licensing reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of cycle statements and reports, in compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Enter payment data into Microsoft Dynamics GP based on reports from the Royalty Manager.
  • Serve as a liaison with authors, publishers, licensors, and Accounts Payable to resolve inquiries.
  • Maintain up-to-date vendor information in royalty tracking and GP systems.
  • Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal departments.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including company-wide and licensed audits.
  • Support month-end close processes, including preparation and entry of journal entries.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports as requested by the Royalty Manager, authors, or publishers.
  • Provide backup support to the Royalty Manager during absences.
  • Collaborate with other Finance team members on special projects and cross-functional tasks.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Strong ability to interpret and work with contracts.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage repetitive tasks and meet regular deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible and dependable; willing to work extended hours during month-end closings.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Prior experience in royalty accounting is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is preferred.
