Requirements
Education: Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Certified in the specialty required by the TO as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties).
Experience: Possess a minimum of 1 year of full-time ambulatory care RN experience in the past 2 years; Possess a minimum of 2 years of full-time pediatric care RN experience in the past 3 years.
Duties:
Deliver patient care in accordance with clinical privileges, protocols, and MTF guidelines
Maintain productivity and quality standards comparable to peers
Participate in peer reviews, training, and performance improvement initiatives
Perform patient assessments, physical exams, health histories, and nursing interventions
Administer medications, wound care, and support individualized treatment plans
Provide health education, counseling, and promote preventive care
Supervise and delegate care to other healthcare staff based on scope and skill level
Respond efficiently to emergencies and adverse events using established procedures
Recognize and manage legal, ethical, and safety concerns in patient care
Comply with infection control, aseptic techniques, and hazardous waste handling
Ensure accurate and timely documentation in EMR systems (e.g., AHLTA, CHCS, MHS Genesis)
Coordinate patient care with multidisciplinary teams and arrange specialty referrals
Support Family Advocacy Program through documentation and reporting
Maintain compliance with required training, certifications, and continuing education
Participate in meetings, in-service training, and command readiness programs
Conduct research or quality initiatives to improve patient outcomes and clinical practices
