About the Department
Under administrative direction, performs work in a structured or unstructured environment to apply technical project, program, or portfolio management skills, technical writing, technical inspections or audits, analysis, and technical training development and delivery. May rotate assignments within the agency to lead or contribute to administrative, professional, or technical processes and projects. Performs related duties as assigned or directed. This classification is designated as UNCOVERED. Incumbent serves at the pleasure of the Director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Position Duties
1. Directs and coordinates technical project, program, or portfolio activities related to or including planning, organizing, controlling, cost and resource estimating, analyzing, risk assessments, and progress monitoring.
2. Performs technical research, analysis, planning, and writing.
3. Completes technical audits and inspections related to technical or professional Department operations, systems, and activities.
4. Develops and delivers technical training and curricula.
Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE OF:
1. Technical English, spelling, grammar and punctuation required to produce highly technical reports, project plans, technical audits and/or course development.
2. Information technology industry project management principles.
3. Principles of completing audits and inspections.
4. Operational and strategic planning.
5. Technical training and curricula development and delivery.
SKILL IN:
1. The use of computer hardware.
2. The use of common word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
3. The use of advanced software for project planning and management.
4. Program and project planning, scheduling managing, and implementation.
5. Completing formal technical audits, inspections, and resulting reports of audits and technical analysis.
6. Completing technical documents, process reviews and maps and risks assessments.
7. Developing comprehensive strategic and operational planning for technical projects.
8. Technical written and verbal communication, including training and curricula development.
ABILITY TO:
1. Work independently and as part of a team.

3. Develop and deliver technical presentations to small and large groups.

Other Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Public Administration, Education, Criminal Justice, Legal or a related field addressing the position's essential knowledge areas; AND three (3) years combined experience in coordinating or managing projects, OR completing audits/inspections, OR technical writing and reporting, OR technical training development and delivery.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Primarily office setting.
2. Availability to work irregular hours and/or respond to emergency Call-outs on a 24-hour basis.
3. Ability to travel extensively throughout the state.
Must pass a background investigation.
