About the role
The Senior Director of Site Acquisitions leads the end-to-end site selection, acquisition, and due diligence process for large-scale data center and renewable energy projects. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies to identify, evaluate, and secure optimal sites, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth objectives and sustainability commitments. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in site acquisition, land development, and project management, with deep expertise in real estate negotiations, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional leadership. Key attributes include exceptional analytical and negotiation skills, a collaborative approach, and the ability to drive complex projects from concept to close.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle of site acquisition for data center and renewable energy projects, from market analysis and site identification through due diligence, negotiation, and closing
- Develop and implement site acquisition strategies that align with company growth targets, sustainability goals, and risk management frameworks
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, brokers, local officials, utilities, and other key stakeholders
- Oversee all aspects of land entitlement, permitting, and regulatory compliance, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery
- Collaborate with internal teams—including development, legal, construction, and finance—to assess site feasibility, secure approvals, and mitigate risks
- Negotiate complex land purchase agreements, leases, easements, and related contracts
- Monitor market trends, zoning changes, and regulatory developments impacting site selection and acquisition
- Lead due diligence efforts, including environmental, geotechnical, and title reviews, to ensure all sites meet company standards and requirements
- Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and reporting for all site acquisition activities
- Build, mentor and lead a high-performing team of acquisition professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Represent the company at industry events, public hearings, and community meetings to advance project objectives and enhance organizational reputation
- Analyze and report on acquisition pipeline, market intelligence, and competitive landscape to inform executive decision-making
- Drive process improvements and best practices in site acquisition, leveraging technology and data analytics for enhanced outcomes
