The Opportunity
Kpler is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Junior to Mid-Level Fuel Oil Research Analyst to join our expanding team in Singapore. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to develop deep expertise in the global fuel oil markets, contribute to leading market intelligence, and play a crucial role in enhancing our proprietary data and forecasting capabilities. You will work within a highly collaborative and enthusiastic environment, engaging with both market and data science teams to shape our understanding of complex market dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Content Generation:
Develop and publish insightful, market and data-driven research reports. These include daily commentaries, and ad-hoc analyses on global and regional fuel oil market trends, including supply/demand balances, trade flows, inventory dynamics, refining margins, and pricing mechanisms.
Craft compelling narratives from complex data, providing actionable intelligence and market calls for clients.
Stay in tune with global geopolitical developments, regulatory changes (e.g., IMO 2020 impacts, Mediterranean ECA, etc…), and technological advancements influencing the fuel oil sector.
Data Analytics & Modelling Support:
Collaborate closely with our data analytics teams to fine-tune and validate ship and cargo tracking data, ensuring accuracy and enhancing our proprietary datasets.
Maintain and develop robust quantitative models for fuel oil supply, demand, and price forecasting.
Identify new data sources and innovative analytical methodologies to improve the precision and breadth of our market insights.
Balance Sheet & Price Forecasting:
Contribute to the construction and maintenance of global and regional fuel oil supply and demand balances, integrating various data inputs and market intelligence.
Develop and refine short-term and long-term price forecasts for key fuel oil benchmarks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work seamlessly with market analysts covering crude oil and other refined products to develop a holistic view of the energy complex and identify inter-product influences.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, traders, refiners, and industry contacts, to gather market intelligence and validate research findings.
