FTN: Operations SupportPosition Summary:
- Arranges back-up when a team member is not present
- Monitors workflow, inbound files / documents ensuring time management
- Prepares files and distributes work first thing in the morning and ensures flow of operation
- Troubleshoots any problems and processes any difficult entries escalated by staff
- Introduces new procedures to staff, provides training and orientation to new employees to learn the system
- Performs a variety of other tasks as assigned by Management (reports, duty paid not billed)
- Oversees the office in the absence of Manager, and manages any issue that may arise
- Conducts sample reviews of entries to ensure accuracy and timely submission (as required)
- Distributes requests to appropriate team members and monitors progress
- Provides guidance, participates in conference calls with US account Reps & other OPCO Reps as required
- Creates debits and credits invoices as needed
- Communicates with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status and special handling/delivery processes
- Provides information and communicates with all government departments as required
- Generates documentation for internal and external customers and government officials as required
- Obtain documentation from both internal and external clients for Release on Minimum Documentation Duplicated (RMD), Low Value Shipment (LVS) corrections
- Attends sales conference calls with clients
- Conduct audits on entry documentation provided by customers, as required
- Provides advice / guidance to internal and external customers on Customs and FTNC processes and procedures
- Deals with all internal and external customer enquiries (via formats, phone calls, emails)
- Performs administrative duties as required, such as receive/distribute all incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- High School Diploma and 2 years of College in international transportation or a related field required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the field of Customs classification, with up-to-date knowledge of Customs laws and regulations
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, office equipment (fax machine / photocopiers / printers/scanners)
- Must have advanced knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff System
- CCS designation an asset
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Proven ability to clearly and concisely prepare findings and recommendations
- Strong motivation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Sound judgement and decision making abilities
