Job Purpose
Council for the Advancement of African Canadians in Alberta operating as Africa Centre is seeking a dedicated Project Coordinator to join our team for a contract position running until March 31, 2026. In this vital role, you will oversee and support our portfolio of SBCCI-funded organizations, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to successfully implement their projects and achieve meaningful community impact.
Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management & Oversight
- Manage a diverse portfolio of funded organizations, ensuring alignment with approved project plans and funder requirements
- Monitor project progress and provide strategic guidance to organizations as they implement their initiatives
- Ensure all project activities comply with Schedule A requirements and funder guidelines
- Support pre-CFP (Call for Proposals) launch activities, including planning for CFP rollout and assisting with the vetting and evaluation of applications
Compliance & Financial Oversight
- Support organizations in meeting all compliance requirements, including financial reporting, timelines, and deliverables
- Assist with the preparation and submission of accurate, timely progress reports and final project evaluations
- Review and reconcile financial documentation to ensure expenses are eligible and meet funder expectations
Capacity Building & Support
- Design and deliver engaging virtual and in-person workshops that equip organizations with essential tools and knowledge
- Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with sub-agreement holders to collect impact stories, assess progress, and provide tailored support
- Identify and address challenges early, providing organizations with resources to stay on track and achieve their goals
Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as the primary liaison between the SBCCI team and funded organizations, ensuring clear communication and alignment
- Foster collaboration among funded organizations, facilitating the sharing of best practices and innovative solutions
- Facilitate community of practice sessions and conduct on site visits as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social sciences, project management, public administration, accounting, or related field
- 2-5 years of experience in project coordination, community engagement, public speaking with preference for grant-funded projects or non-profit sector experience
- Strong financial management skills, including experience with financial reconciliation and compliance monitoring
- Excellent organizational abilities with proven success managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills , particularly when working with diverse communities and stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of challenges and opportunities facing Black-led organizations is preferred
- Experience in capacity-building initiatives and community development is preferred
- Familiarity with project management tools and software (Excel, Google Suite, project management platforms)
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English (preference will be given to bilingual candidates)
