We’re looking for a Systems Engineer to join our IT team and play a key role in our shift to a cloud-first infrastructure. You’ll help modernise our endpoint management, support collaboration tools, and strengthen identity and access frameworks — all of which are critical to how our people work securely and efficiently.
This is a hands-on technical role, ideal for someone confident working with Microsoft 365, Intune, and cloud identity systems. You’ll be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team where initiative and curiosity are valued.
If you want to work somewhere where your ideas matter, where you’re trusted to get things done, and where change is embraced — we’d love to hear from you.
Your Objectives:
Endpoint Management– Configure and manage device policies, deployment, and security using Microsoft Intune.
Cloud Collaboration Tools– Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
Identity & Access – Implement and support secure access controls including SSO, role-based access, and conditional policies.
SaaS Governance– Support key SaaS platforms across the business including user provisioning, integrations, and system performance.
Compliance & Security – Configure email and data security tools, ensure alignment with retention and protection policies.
Documentation & Support – Create and maintain technical documentation, and work closely with teams to support end users and troubleshoot issues.
Skills and Experience:
Must Have:
Experience in a Systems Engineer or Endpoint Management role.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and endpoint management across diverse OS/device types.
Proficiency in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), identity, and access management.
Experience with M365 administration and configuration.
Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset.
Nice to Have:
Experience with large-scale SaaS platforms and integrations.
Familiarity with email/web security platforms (e.g. Proofpoint, Forcepoint, Zscaler).
Understanding of Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence.
ITIL/ITSM certifications or relevant qualifications.
About Us:
CEF (City Electrical Factors) was founded in 1951 in the UK and has grown to become the UK’s leading electrical wholesaler, with over 390 branches nationwide. In 1983, our North American arm, City Electric Supply (CES), was born — and together we’ve built a global presence supporting customers across the UK, Ireland, Spain, Holland, Australia, the USA and Canada.
Our IT team is at the heart of our future. We are modernising our systems, embracing cloud and serverless technology, and exploring how AI can enhance how we operate — but we’re doing it our way: with care, curiosity, collaboration, and a genuine drive to deliver value.
We don’t believe in transformation for the sake of it. Every line of code, every product, every release — it all serves the goal of making life easier for our teams and our customers.
This is a place where your work matters. Where you're empowered to challenge, build, and improve. And where we’re open to new ideas, new ways of thinking, and people who want to get stuck in.
Location:
The role will be primarily based in Janet Nash House, Durham, with the option for flexible home working. Business travel may be required in specific circumstances, or dependent on current commercial strategies or initiatives.
Interview Process:

1st Stage Interview with System Engineering Team Lead and member of the Team.
2nd Stage Interview with Head of Infrastructure & Operations and System Engineering Team Lead.
Benefits:
