POSITION SUMMARY  

 

As a Manager, Services Quoting at Ciena, you will be responsible for overseeing the annual maintenance renewal services quoting function and managing a team of quoting specialists. This role requires a strong understanding of services quoting processes, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to drive operational efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, ensure the accuracy of quotations, and support the sales team in meeting customer needs. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Quoting Process Management: Oversee the end-to-end services quoting process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of quotations to support the sales efforts. 

  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a team of quoting specialists, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management to drive individual and team success. 

  • Pricing Analysis: Conduct pricing analysis, considering market trends, competitive landscape, and profitability targets, to ensure competitive and profitable pricing for services. 

  • Customer Engagement: Collaborate with sales teams and engage directly with customers to understand their requirements, address concerns, and provide exceptional service throughout the quotation process. 

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product line, finance, operations, commercial and legal teams to gather necessary information, ensure compliance, and address contractual requirements. 

  • Quotation Review: Oversee the review process for quotations, ensuring accuracy, compliance with company policies, pricing guidelines, and contractual obligations. 

  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess the services quoting process, identify areas for improvement, and implement changes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and customer responsiveness. 

  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate regular reports on quoting performance, key metrics, and trends, providing insights to support data-driven decision-making. 

  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate quoting strategies, performance updates, and key initiatives to senior management and cross-functional stakeholders. 

  • Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities to the quoting team, ensuring their skills and knowledge are up to date. 

  • Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in services quoting, bringing innovative ideas and solutions to the team. 

 

 

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus. 

  • Experience: Minimum of 12 years of experience in services quoting, pricing, or related roles, preferably in the telecommunications or networking industry. 

  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing and developing teams, driving performance, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. 

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to analyze pricing data, market trends, and customer requirements to drive pricing decisions. 

  • Process Optimization: Experience in process improvement and automation, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, accuracy, and customer responsiveness. 

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. 

  • Customer Focus: Strong customer orientation and ability to understand customer needs, provide exceptional service, and build long-term relationships. 

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with networking concepts, services portfolio, and quoting tools/systems in the telecommunications industry. 

  • Results-Driven: Proven track record of achieving targets, meeting deadlines, and driving operational excellence. 

  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and navigate through ambiguity and changing priorities.
