Role & Scope:

The SVP oversees and is responsible for all aspects of Global Supply Chain and Quality (GSCQ) finance activities including leading a team of 50+ finance professionals across multiple locations.

The SVP leads the GSCQ finance team in partnering with executive leadership to achieve GSCQ financial and operational goals by providing insightful financial and business analysis, guidance, and related recommendations.

The SVP leads the GSCQ Annual Operating Plan and monthly forecast processes and provides financial support for the Strategic Plan. The SVP is also responsible for the close process across the GSCQ operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance in collaboration with internal and external auditors and corporate controller’s office, including monthly close across all GSCQ operations, evaluation and monitoring of inventory (including capitalized variances), fixed assets, and  accruals.

Trusted advisor and sounding board to GSCQ CVP and the CFO.

Lead team in providing value-added business analysis as well as defining and reporting meaningful financial and operational metrics that support business decision-making; analysis may include new product cost modeling, network cost optimization, value-improvement project returns, capital investment analysis, impact of manufacturing method changes, make vs. buy analysis, inventory optimization, etc.

Responsible for operations financial planning and analysis, including Annual Operating Plan and monthly forecast processes; lead financial aspect of the Strategic plan

Lead organizational and operational improvement initiatives across functions to drive short and long-term delivery of the GSCQ key strategic priorities.

Develop robust strategic talent development and succession planning in alignment with functional growth strategies within GSCQ.

Support the establishment, definition and reporting of annual KODs in collaboration with the leadership team.  Recommend and support actions to achieve KODs as required.

Provide expertise and advise on financial implications of new business ideas and initiatives, including mergers & acquisitions, and divestitures

Stay apprised of market conditions to inform actions and strategies.

Member of Global Finance Council responsible for setting global finance strategy and assessing the impact of global projects

Key Links to the Organization:

Reports directly to the GSCQ CVP and serves as a key member of the management team.

Reports indirectly to the CFO of Edwards.

Directly manages GSCQ Finance Team and other areas as may be assigned.

Collaborates with corporate, regional and shared service organizations on GSCQ financial matters

Key Strategic Challenges for next three to five years:

Provide support for key GSCQ initiatives including new product launches, new business integration, excellent service and quality, capacity expansion, supplier management, insourcing opportunities, and automation.

Influence and enable FinanceADVANCE, Project Ascend and Talent & Development initiatives improve processes, increase efficiency and reduce risk.

Develop technical and leadership skills of finance team members to deliver sustained business performance while enabling individuals to achieve their career goals.

Critical Education and Experiences

Sector Experience:

  • Experience in the medical technology industry

  • Experience with Global or multi-national public corporation

Functional Experience:

  • Experience with M&A transactions

  • FP&A/Operational Finance

  • Financial control and reporting knowledge

  • Treasury/Capital Markets

  • Investor Relations

Leadership Experience:

  • Experience working with a Board of Directors

  • Manufacturing and Supply Chain Financial Leadership

  • BU Financial leadership

  • Regional Financial leadership

  • Multi Region experience (responsibility outside U.S.)

Education:

  • College degree- BS in Accounting or Finance

  • Advanced degrees and certifications (MBA, CPA, CFA, Finance or Accounting)

Critical success factors (technical)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high performing teams

  • Experience developing and articulating long-range strategies

  • Experience supporting manufacturing or global supply chain operations

  • Proven experience and proficiency in cost accounting concepts and performance drivers

  • Advanced financial modelling skills and understanding of financial concepts (NPV, ROI, etc.)

  • Working knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements

  • Working knowledge of financial systems and tools (OneSource, JDE, excel)

Additional preferred skills (technical) – helpful to do the role well but not strictly needed

  • Experience with business development activities (M&A, divestitures, spin-offs, etc.)

  • Investor / shareholder relations experience

  • Audit or other technical accounting experience

  • Experience in non-US region and/or supporting multiple business models or units

  • Advanced analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with a focus on financial process transformation and cost efficiency. Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting tools.
