The Tokio Marine HCC - Public Risk Group, is seeking a recent graduate in possession of a J.D. or B.A. degree in a Law program to join our Compliance team as a Compliance Associate.    

Public Risk Group provides multiple lines of property and casualty insurance to municipal entities and water districts in multiple states.

This role is responsible for performing all aspects of regulatory and compliance reporting as required by federal, state, local laws, and insurance regulations. 

The ideal candidate must be able to conduct research and writing at a high level; demonstrate sound judgment and critical thinking; manage multiple projects; communicate effectively orally and in writing; and complete assignments with minimal supervision. They would also have a proficiency with Microsoft Office 365. Previous working knowledge of state laws and regulations is highly preferred. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate and execute filing process of rate, rule, and form for multiple lines of coverage on a nationwide basis. Assist with filing of Surplus Lines taxes and fees. Work with the business, actuarial and legal to compile all required information to create a filing for a specified state. 

  • Coordinate and complete periodic filings for insurance related entities including obtaining the appropriate submissions guidelines and forms. 

  • Review and analyze state insurance department statutes, regulations, bulletins, etc. to determine impact and ensure adherence to filing and regulatory requirements. 

  • Stay current on changes and developments that impact insurance design and development, in addition to filing requirements. 

  • Respond timely to objections from the state as a result of filings. Develop accurate solutions to regulatory compliance problems and makes required reports as determined by local, state, and federal laws and regulations. 

  • Prepare timely and accurate regulatory filings and reports for submission to regulatory agencies. 

  • Coordinate agency appointment efforts for several insurance company subsidiaries. Monitor to ensure Agents have the correct license and are appointed by the correct company. 

  • Act as a liaison between business unit and corporate on various matters. 

  • Serve as a professional insurance resource to all employees, officers, and directors of all the Company's operating units. Provide professional advice when required and respond to Senior Management inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
