Our Defense Team supports our Nation’s warfighters, modernizing the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Base Area Network (BAN) infrastructure through an as-a-service model utilizing Contractor provided services, methodologies, and industry leading practices.
The purpose of this role is to support the takeover of current operations and wholistically modernize the wired and wireless Non-secure Internet Protocol Router (NIPRNet) and Secure Internet Router (SIPRNet) networks for the DAF BAN.
This position requires office presence a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.
Description of Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Duties are performed on the United States Air Base Misawa JA
- Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate base area network (BAN) and local area network (LAN) infrastructures, systems, and subsystems.
- Functions as technical specialist for LAN activities, such as, heatmap generation and analysis, system scaling and distribution, wireless controller configuration, and access point placement.
- Perform maintenance of network devices to ensure correct operation with minimal interruption.
- Implement network security measures and continuous optimization.
- Research and recommend data network communications hardware and software.
- Establishes and maintain data network performance baselines and troubleshoot network issues.
- Support lead network engineers in design, documentation and delivery of BAN network systems, subsystems, and end-user integration.
- Analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. Execute technical investigations of network systems.
- Consolidates design reports or products on major projects.
Required Clearance: Secret. (#secret)
Required Qualifications: Active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification.
Desired Qualifications: Advanced Degree in related field or equivalent experience; or equivalent combination of training; certifications; work and/or military experience.
