Job Summary
The Emergency Management Business Continuity Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the resilience of our healthcare system by supporting the business continuity planning and disaster recovery efforts across our hospitals, clinics, and other system functions. This position involves working closely with various departments to identify risks, develop, and implement business continuity strategies, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Job Description
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of business continuity plans for the healthcare system, including hospitals, and administrative functions.
- Conduct risk assessments and business impact analysis to identify critical functions, dependencies, and vulnerabilities within the healthcare system.
- Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical departments to develop and test disaster recovery and emergency response strategies.
- Provide support in the development and execution of business continuity training, exercises, and simulations for staff across the healthcare system.
- Ensure that business continuity plans comply with relevant healthcare regulations, standards, and accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of business continuity plans and recommend improvements as needed.
- Maintain documentation and records related to business continuity plans, exercises, and incidents.
- Act as a liaison with external partners, including emergency management agencies, vendors, and contractors, to coordinate business continuity efforts.
- Support the continuous improvement of the healthcare system’s overall resiliency through regular reviews and updates of business continuity plans and strategies.

- Maintains confidentiality.
- Work effectively in a team environment, coordinating workflow with other team members and ensuring a productive and efficient environment.
- Comply with safety principles, laws, regulations and standards associated with, but not limited to CMS, Joint Commission, and OSHA.
- Oversee emergency preparedness initiatives across the healthcare system, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements (CMS, Joint Commission, FEMA, etc.).
- All other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements
Required:
Education – Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Emergency Management, or a related field
Certifications – Driver's License - State; Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) or Healthcare Business Continuity Management (HBCM)
Preferred:
Certifications - Certification in emergency management or healthcare emergency management. Completion of FEMA ICS courses 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800.
Experience - Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business continuity planning, risk management, or emergency management within a healthcare setting. 1+ years experience in Incident Command Systems for emergency response. 2+ years experience in clinical patient care (Paramedic or Registered Nurse)
